Vermilionville

Vermilionville

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Vermilionville, a subsidiary of Bayou Vermilion District, is one of the crown jewels of Acadiana. It is iconic, a historical landmark right in our own backyard with tons of educational and recreational activities. The client was looking for better ways to increase their online presence and get the word out to Acadiana and to visitors about all that their facility offers.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge for Vermilionville was low website traffic and visibility; their online presence was holding them back from reaching their full potential. The client wanted to reach out to local people and worldwide to showcase their historical conservation efforts in the area. The National Register of Historic Places does not send an inspector to deem a property “of significant historical value”, so capturing their attention proved difficult. They rely on photos, videos, and a solid online presence to make their decisions, and Vermilionville checked off all their boxes except for one. With our help, we enhanced their online presence to catch the National Register’s eye while still appealing to the average citizen.

THE SOLUTION

The solution to Vermilionville’s problems started with a complete overhaul of its online presence. We amped up their interaction levels and started pushing for more content. With these assets in-hand, we were able to sculpt a beautiful and functional website to drive traffic to the right places. They needed to highlight the need for volunteers, donations, and visitors. We took their needs and merged them with a more practical layout, a secure donation portal, and animations to create a more refined website. With these tools, we helped move Vermilionville from a small-time museum-style village to one of the most recognized names in Cajun and Creole history, with the well-deserved recognition from the National Register of Historic Places to boot.

ANALYSIS

Online presence is everything, and bringing that around to the forefront of Vermilionville’s model allowed them to reach hundreds more people than they did beforehand. By creating a personalized website with beautiful graphics, relevant information, and solid search engine optimization, Vermilionville stepped up their game. By capturing the attention of locals and visitors alike, we were able to direct traffic through their website across all the newly created pages. With more users and more sessions come more volunteers, more donations, and more visitors! By solidifying their online presence, Vermilionville was also able to gain accreditation from the National Register of Historic Places as a culturally and historically significant place of interest.
